Forest fire is one of the main factors that have an effecting on vegetation dynamics. Forest fires generally start
and develop on surface litter layer. Surface fires turn into crown fires under suitable fuel and weather conditions.
Transition from surface fire to crown fire depends on surface fuel conditions intermediate fuel layer (load, horizontal
and vertical fuel continuity, and fuel moisture content), crown crown fuel load and moisture content, crown base
height, slope and wind. This paper reports on the factors effecting transition from surface fire to crown fire. Orman yangınları, vejetasyon dinamiklerini etkileyen ana faktörlerden birisidir. Orman yangınları
genellikle ölü örtü tabakasından başlar ve gelişir. Uygun yanıcı madde ve hava halleri koşulları altında
tepe yangınına dönüşür. Örtü yangınının tepe yangınına dönüşmesi orman zeminindeki ara ve alt
tabakadaki yanıcı maddenin durumu (miktarı, dağılımı, yatay ve dikey sürekliliği, nem içeriği), tepedeki,
yanıcı madde miktarı, nem içeriği, tepe altı yüksekliği eğim ve rüzgara bağlıdır. Bu çalışmada örtü
yangınının tepe yangınına dönüşmesinde etkili olan temel faktörler açıklanmıştır
