This study was carried out between 1993 and 2009 in order to determine endemic and non-endemic rare plants of Artvin province, one of the World's richest regions in respect to biological diversity and at the same time, it is known as one of the most important 25 Threatened Terrestrial Ecological Regions. n addition, with 4 mportant Plant Areas, ıBiosphere Reserve Area, 2 National Parks, 3 Nature Conservation Areas, and 1 Natural Park in its province, Artvin is also one of the most important areas in Turkey in terms of biological diversity. n this study, total of 1308 vascular plant taxa belonging to 112 families and 502 genera were determined through field surveys and reviewing of the "Flora of Turkey". Also, total of 243 rare plant taxa, including 158 endemics and 85 non-endemics were evaluated according to UCN risk categor ies. The endemism ratio was estimated to be 12.07% (158 taxa). The distribution of the threat categories is as follows: 13 endemic taxa in CR, 30 endemic and 2 non-endemic taxa in EN, 22 endemic and 60 non-endemic taxa in VU, 11 endemic and 1non-endemic taxa in NT, 66 endemic taxa in LC, and 16 endemic and 21non endemic taxa in DD. As for the rare plant species in the province of Artvin, out of the total 243 rare plant taxa found, 65, 66, and 112 were identified as threatened at the Global Scale, at the European Scale, and at the National Scale, respectively. Moreover, it was determined that while 6 plant species are subject to the Bern Convention, 17 plant species are subject to the CITES Convention.
