Araştırma protokolü 7 Kasım 2024 tarihinde NCT06680414 numarası ile ClinicalTrials’a kaydedilmiştir. Objective: This research will be carried out to evaluate the effect of supportive vaccine communication according to the motivational interviewing method on the vaccine knowledge, vaccine literacy, and vaccine decision processes of pregnant mothers. Material and Methods: The study will be carried out as a parallel design (1:1) waiting-list, single-blind, randomized controlled experimental study. The sample size of the study was determined as 58 pregnant mothers (29 experimental, 29 waiting list) based on power analysis and considering data losses. Pregnant mothers who meet the inclusion criteria will be randomly assigned to the strata created according to pregnancy experience and then to the experimental and waiting-list groups with block randomization. The vaccine communication process will be carried out with 3 modules and 6 sessions at 1-week intervals. The intervention for pregnant mothers in the waiting-list group will be carried out after the post-test data are collected from the groups. The outcome criteria of the study are vaccine literacy, vaccine knowledge, and vaccine decision-thinking of pregnant mothers. The effect of supportive vaccine communication will be interpreted with the change in the outcome criteria in the experimental and waiting-list groups. The CONSORT-Outcomes 2022 Extension (CONSORT-2022 Outcomes Extension) will be used as a guide in reporting the research. Results: The research data will be analyzed with IBM SPSS v.27 package program. The descriptive characteristics of pregnant mothers will be presented with numbers and percentages. Depending on the nature of the data obtained, the result criteria will be evaluated with parametric or non-parametric tests. Conclusion: The results of this research will provide information about the effect of supportive vaccine communication for pregnant mothers on vaccine decision-making processes. Within the scope of the literature review, this research will be the first randomized experimental study to evaluate the effect of vaccine communication provided to pregnant mothers on vaccine decision making processes. The results of the research will guide planning to protect public health and increase childhood immunization rates.
