Araştırmada öncelikle, Türkiye’de mesleki turizm eğitimi, turizm eğitiminin genel yapısı ve dünyadaki turizm eğitimi örneklerine değinilerek günümüzde turizm eğitiminin meslek yüksekokullarındaki durumu irdelenmiştir. Araştırma kısmında, Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi Arhavi Meslek Yüksekokulu Turizm ve Seyahat Hizmetleri ile Turizm ve Otel İşletmeciliği programlarında eğitim-öğretim gören öğrencilere anket uygulanarak istatistiksel sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Turizm bölümü öğrencilerinin sosyo-ekonomik durumları ile ilgili olarak öğrencilerin ailelerinin genellikle ilçede yaşadığı, öğrencilerin küçük yerleşim yerlerinden geldikleri görülmektedir. Öğrencilerin ailelerinin genel olarak az gelire sahip olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğrencilerin turizm mesleği ile ilgili gelecek beklentileri ile ilgili ise genel olarak turizm mesleğinin geleceği konusunda olumlu beklentiler içinde oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştırIn this study, the reasons of getting the tourism education of the vocational high school tourism program students were determined and the perspectives about the future of the profession were being investigated. In the research, firstly, general structure of the occupational tourism training in Turkey and samples in the world were mentioned and today the situation of tourism education in vocational higher schools were examined. Students who were educated in Artvin Coruh University Arhavi Vocational School Tourism and Travel Services and Tourism and Hotel Management programs were applied and statistical results were obtained. Regarding the socio-economic situation of the students of the tourism department, it is seen that the families of the students usually live in the district and the students come from the small settlements. It turns out that the families of the students generally have a low income.
