Öğe Comparison of previously injured body regions in elite freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers(Georg Thieme Verlag KG, 2022) Çebi, Mehmet; İmamoğlu, Osman; Yamak, Bade; Elioz, Murat; Yıldız, MuhammedThe aim of this study was to compare the injured body regions that elite Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers suffered from and to determine the importance of injuries. 41 Freestyle and 51 Greco-Roman wrestlers, who were practicing in Turkish National Wrestling Team camps, participated in this study. 'Chi Square' and student t tests were used in statistical analyses. When examined injury status and body regions distribution between Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers, significant difference was found in head and trunk injuries according to wrestling styles (p<0.05). No difference was found in upper/lower extremities and lesion/scrape and friction burns status of the wrestlers according to wrestling style (p>0.05). There was significant difference in trunk and upper extremity injuries with respect to weight category (p<0.05 and p<0.001). Significant difference was also found in nose injuries according to wrestling styles (p<0.05). When examined wrestling style and upper extremity injuries according to the number of injuries, there was found significant difference between two styles in muscle injuries, finger and wrist injuries (p<0.05). The difference between toe injuries in respect to the wrestling style was statistically significant (p<0.05). Results: Greco-Roman wrestlers experienced more injuries in trunk, head and nose compared to Freestyle wrestlers. Trunk, lower and upper extremity injuries varied depending on weight categories. Neck, back, lumbar and chest injuries were more common in Greco-Roman wrestlers. Freestyle wrestlers were more vulnerable to muscle injuries while Greco-Roman wrestlers were more vulnerable to finger and wrist injuries. It is recommended to improve some abilities excellently such as aerobic power, strength, balance and neuro-motor coordination in wrestling. Techniques should be taught well to the wrestlers, most risky extremities for injury have to be applied extra training and these extremities should be protected from injuries by several tapes, bandages or gears during exercise. Freestyle wrestlers ought to be more careful in diving move. Using ear protector in addition to preventive measures can be recommended during training in order to prevent temporal bone fractures and swellings.Öğe Letter to the editor: "Differences in walking and running parameters in elementary school students with and without backpacks"(IOS PRESS, 2025) Yıldız, Muhammed; Çebi, MehmetWhen examining the study titled “Differences in Walking and Running Parameters in Elementary School Students With and Without Backpacks” by Kusumoto et al. (2024), it becomes evident that this research makes a significant contribution to understanding the biomechanical effects of backpack use on the gait and running parameters of schoolaged children.1 By addressing the physical implications of Backpack Syndrome (BS), the study provides a robust methodological framework for assessing how carrying backpacks affects children’s health and movement dynamics. A key strength of the study lies in its use of validated measurement tools. The researchers employed highprecision inertial measurement units (IMUs) (Physilog5®, GaitUp, Switzerland), which contain a triaxial accelerometer (±16 g range) and a triaxial gyroscope (±1000°/s range) with a sampling frequency of 100 Hz to capture gait and running parameters, ensuring the reliability of the findings. Moreover, the application of two way ANOVA and generalized linear mixed models enhanced the statistical rigor, reinforcing the credibility of the results. These methodological choices align well with the study’s aim of providing a detailed biomechanical analysis.Öğe Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation warm-ups: A key to improved isokinetic performance(Georg Thieme Verlag, 2025) Yıldız, Muhammed; Çebi, MehmetThis study examined the immediate effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation warm-ups on isokinetic strength, endurance, and body balance in 50 football players. Data collection spanned four sessions, each separated by full rest. The isokinetic strength of the hip, knee, and ankle flexion and extension was measured using a dynamometer at 60°/s, 180°/s, and 240°/s. Endurance was assessed at 240°/s through 25 repetitions, analyzing peak torque changes. On the first day, participants performed general warm-ups followed by balance and strength tests. Subsequent sessions repeated these tests with additional measurements. Results showed that proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation warm-ups significantly improved the static and dynamic balance compared to other methods. Peak torque measurements at all speeds also highlighted the superior effectiveness of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation warm-ups. Additionally, this warm-up approach provided greater acute enhancement in knee joint isokinetic endurance. In conclusion, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation warm-ups increased the isokinetic strength, endurance, and balance in football players. Incorporating proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation warm-ups into football training especially for lower body preparation is recommended. Combining them with active warm-ups may further boost acute performance.Öğe Proprioceptive sensation levels of the elbows of physically disabled athletes(Thieme, 2024) Yıldız, Muhammed; Çebi, MehmetThe aim of this study was to compare elbow joint proprioception measurements between physically disabled individuals who are active in sports and those who are not. The study included 30 athletes, 30 sedentary individuals, 30 physically disabled athletes, and 30 physically disabled sedentary individuals as volunteers. Elbow joint proprioception measurements were conducted using a sensitive digital goniometer with a precision of 1 degree. The joint position sense test method was used to perform the active angle repetition technique. Target angles were determined to be 30°, 60°, and 120°. A significant difference was observed in the comparison of proprioception between the dominant and non-dominant elbow joints of athletes and physically disabled sedentary individuals (p<0.05). Elbow joint proprioception was found to be highest in physically disabled athletes at the target angles. Conversely, the lowest elbow joint proprioception levels were found in physically disabled sedentary patients compared with the other groups. Thieme. The study demonstrates that both self-study and remote training methods lead to significant improvements in caregiver performance and confidence. However, while these improvements are statistically significant, they remain relatively limited compared to outcomes achieved through face to face training.
