Öğe Effect of cultural management methods against fake butterfly [Ricania japonica (Hemiptera: Ricaniidae)](Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2019) Altaş, Kaan; Ak, KibarThis study was conducted between 2017 and 2018 to determine the cultural measures that are applied in the control against Ricania japonica (Hemiptera: Ricaniidae), which has caused damage in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey for approximately 10 years as an important pest. Pests are widespread in this region but there is no other important pest that requires significant chemical control in crop plants, in particular tea plants. Furthermore, this pest population, whose population has grown since 2009, may cause significant losses in vegetables especially for traditional family needs during its nymph period. The fact that vegetable fields have been almost interwened with tea plants and synthetic pesticides are not used in tea plant production, has caused us to focus on cultural methods, which are among alternative pest-fighting methods. With this study, the purpose was to determine the effects of kaolin, refined salt and ash applications against the nymphs of the pests, and to investigate how to destroy the infected plant materials in which the pest lay eggs until the middle of May. As a result of the study, it was determined that the destruction of the infected plants and plant wastes in the areas decreased the pest population by 90% because it was the winter months which is the egg-laying period of the pest. Other applications (kaolin, refined salt and ash) were not found effective against the nymphs of this pest.Öğe Hatay ili şimşir alanlarında yeni bir zararlı, Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Ak, Kibar; Sarı, Ömer; Altaş, Kaan; Yaşar, HalilTürkiye'de yaklaşık bin hektarlık bir yayılış alanına sahip olan Buxus sempervirens (şimşir), Hatay ilinin önemli bitki türlerinden biridir. Hatay ilinde önemli bir doğal şimşir alanı da Dörtyol ilçesidir. Son yıllarda bölgede şimşirlerde görülen kurumanın kaynağı araştırılmış ve Cydalima perspectalis olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Daha önce bu bölgede yayılışı tespit edilmemiş olan bu tür Kozlu Dere mevkiinde bu çalışmayla literatüre girmiştir. Çalışma yapılan alanda zarar görmüş bitki örnekleri alınarak laboratuvara getirilmiş, kültür kutularında kültüre alınan zararlı ile bulaşık bitki artıklarından erginler elde edilmiş ve teşhisi yapılmıştır. Zararlının larva erginlerinin morfolojik ölçüm ve karakteristik özellikleri verilmiştir. C. perspectalis’in larvalarının bölgedeki şimşirlerin yapraklarıyla beslendikleri, sürgünlerin kabuklarını kemirerek kambiyum tabakasına zarar verdikleri tespit edilmiştir. Şimşir alanları için önemli bir zararlıya karşı yapılan bu çalışma C. perspectalis’in Hatay ilindeki şimşir alanlarında zararlı olduğunu bildiren ilk çalışmadır. Ayrıca çalışma ile zararlının bu bölgedeki önemi ortaya konulmuş ve mücadelesine yönelik öneriler verilmiştir.Öğe Important invasive species and its pest status in Turkey: Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae)(Springer Heidelberg, 2019) Ak, Kibar; Uluca, Mansur; Aydın, Öznur; Göktürk, TemelThe brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål), is a pest of many annual and perennial agricultural products. The species is native to Asia. It is an awful highly polyphagous invasive pest. This study is the frst comprehensive study on Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae), which is an invasive species in Turkey, and was conducted to determine the spread, intensity, population change and hosts of it in the Black Sea Region in 2018. In the present study, pheromone traps were placed for the pest in 6 cities, 49 counties and 149 locations between May and October, and were followed periodically. According to the results, it was determined that H. halys spread between Kemalpaşa (Artvin) and Hayrat (Trabzon). According to the number of the adults that were caught by the pheromone traps, the areas where the pest was at the highest intensity were: Hopa, Kemalpaşa, Borçka, Arhavi (Artvin) and Fındıklı (Rize). It was determined in the area where the study was conducted that many cultivated plants especially hazelnut, kiwi, corn, orange, blueberry, beans and tomato were the hosts of the pest, and recommendations were given on the precautions that must be taken against the pest.Öğe Insecticidal effects of some essential oils against Tribolium confusum (du Val.) and Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say), (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae and Bruchidae) adults(Springer, 2020) Göktürk, Temel; Kordalı,Şaban; Ak, Kibar; Kesdek, MemişIn this study, insecticidal effects of the essential oils obtained from plants Ocimum basilicum L., Rosmarinus officinalis L. and Artemisia dracunculus L. on confused flour beetle (Tribolium confusum du Val., 1863 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)) and bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say), 1831 (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)) adults were tested in laboratory conditions. In this context, T. confusum and A. obtectus adults were exposed to essential oils at 10 and 20 ?L/petri doses for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. All of the essential oils used in the study caused mortalities at different rates in two application doses but end of the 96 h all mortality rates were obtained similar (O. basilicum 98.3%, R. officinalis 98.3%, A. dracunculus 93.3% against T. confusum adults; O. basilicum 100%, R. officinalis 100%, A. dracunculus 100% against A. obtectus adults). It was determined that the effects of essential oils on A. obtectus adults were greater than T. confusum adults. Especially when the dosage was 20 ?L, the death rate increased up to over 95% after 96 h for all types. The mortality rates increased with increasing exposure period at the 48, 72 and 96 h. in all applications. The results of the study suggest that essential oils from O.basilicum and R.officinalis could have a potential as control agents against A. obtectus and T.confusum adults under storage conditions.
