Öğe Ayçiçek tablasının yonga levha endüstrisinde kullanılabilme olanakları(Bartın Üniversitesi, 2020) Bardak, Selahattin; Nemli, Gökay; Bardak, Timuçin; Peker, Hüseyin; Özcan, Mehmet EminBu çalışmada, ayçiçek üretimi sonrası tarlada atık kalan ayçiçek tablasının hammadde olarak yonga levha üretimine uygunluğu araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada belirli oranlarda kokar ağaç (Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle) odunu ve ayçiçek tablası içeren 5 farklı levha üretilmiştir. Aynı zamanda kullanılan hammaddelerin kimyasal özellikleri ve yonga levhaların çeşitli kalite özelliklerine de (fiziksel, mekanik, yüzey özellikleri ve formaldehit emisyonu) bakılmıştır. Son olarak da elde edilen veriler değerlendirilerek yonga levhaların çeşitli kullanım yerlerinde özellikle de mobilya ve genel kullanım için uygunluğu ilgili standartlara bakılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Kimyasal analizlerden elde edilen verilen verilerin değerlendirilmesi sonucunda tüm çözünürlük değerleri, pH ve kül değerlerinin ayçiçek tablasında kokar ağaca odununa göre daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Fakat holoselüloz, selüloz, hemizelüloz ve lignin miktarlarının ise kokar ağaç odununda ayçiçek tablasına göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmalardan elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmesi sonucu yonga levhaların üretiminde % 10 ayçiçek kafası kullanılması yonga levhaların teknolojik özelliklerini etkilememiştir. % 20, % 30 ve % 100 ayçiçek tablası kullanımı eğilme direnci, elastikiyet modülü ve yüzeye dik çekme direncini olumsuz yönde etkilemiştir. Buna rağmen 2 ve 24 saatlik kalınlığına şişme değerleri ve formaldehit emisyonunu ise olumlu yönde etkilemiştir. Son olarak ise levhaların yüzey özelliklerine (ortalama pürüzlülük, en büyük pürüzlülük ve on nokta pürüzlülüğü) bakıldığında ayçiçek tablası kullanım oranın artmasına paralel olarak pürüzlülük değerlerinin arttığı tespit edilmiştir.Öğe Dijital görüntü korelasyon yöntemi ile farklı mobilya birleştirmelerin mekanik davranışlarının belirlenmesi(Turkish Journal of Forestry, 2018) Bardak, Timuçin; Sözen, Eser; Kayahan, Kadir; Bardak, Selahattin; Aydemir, Deniz; Peker, HüseyinKüresel rekabetin yoğunlaşması ile bütün endüstrilerde araştırma ve geliştirme çalışmaları kritik bir konu haline dönüşmüştür. Mobilya endüstrisinde dayanıklı ve kaliteli üretim için birleştirmelerin deformasyon davranışlarını anlamak önemlidir. Mekanik biliminde optik yöntemler temassız olarak katı malzemeler hakkında hızlı ve doğru bilgi verir. Bu çalışmada, dijital görüntü korelasyon yöntemi (DIC) kullanılarak basma ve çekme yükleri altında farklı mobilya birleştirmelerinin mekanik özellikleri ve deformasyonu analiz edilmiştir. Analiz için kutu konstrüksiyonlu mobilyada yaygın olarak kullanılan kelebek, tırnaklı trapez, minifixli birleştirme metotları seçilmiştir. Mobilya Birleştirmelerinin oluşturulmasında orta yoğunluklu lif levha (MDF), yonga levha (YL) ve lamine kaplı yonga levha (LY) kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda birleştirme türünün ve malzeme tipinin gerilme ve yer değiştirme (deformasyon) miktarını etkilediği saptanmıştır. Deney sonuçlarına göre, malzeme türünde en yüksek basma ve çekme direncini Lif levha vermiştir. Birleştirme çeşidinde kelebek bağlantı en iyi sonucu vermiştir. DIC yönteminin mobilya tasarımında birleştirmelerin optimizasyonu için yararlı bir araç olarak kullanılabileceği bulunmuştur.Öğe The effect of decor paper properties and adhesive type on some properties of particleboard(Elsevier, 2011) Bardak, Selahattin; Sarı, Bünyamin; Nemli, Gökay; Kırcı, Hüseyin; Baharoğlu, MehmetIn this study, the effects of decor paper grammage (weight per unit area) and adhesive type on the tearing index, breaking length, and mechanical (modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity) of the decorative papers, and surface quality (abrasion resistance) properties of the overlaid particleboard panels were investigated. As the raw decor paperweight was increased, the properties of the paper, and mechanical properties and abrasion resistance of the overlaid panels were significantly improved. It appears that the decor paper grammage is the parameter, other than scratch resistance, which determines the end use of the particleboard surfaces with decor paper. While the adhesive type was found to influence the abrasion resistance, it did not statistically affect the mechanical properties of particleboard. In addition, melamine formaldehyde caused better abrasion resistance than did the urea formaldehyde and melamine urea formaldehyde. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.Öğe Effect of log position in European Larch (Larix decidua Mill.) tree on the technological properties of particleboard(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2015) Muhcu, Selda; Nemli, Gökay; Ayrılmış, Nadir; Bardak, Selahattin; Baharoğlu, Mehmet; Sarı, Bünyamin; Gerçek, ZiyaThe impact of log position in European Larch (Larix decidua Mill.) tree on the physical, mechanical, and surface properties of the particleboard was investigated. The logs were divided into five segments from the butt to the top of tree, which were 0-3 m, 3-6 m, 6-9 m, 9-12 m, and 12-15 m, respectively. The fiber length and wall thickness of the wood decreased with the increase in the tree height while the lumen diameter decreased. Similarly, the amount of cellulose and lignin decreased with the increase in tree height while the amount of hemicelluloses increased. The highest solubility values (hot and cold water, NaOH, and alcohol-benzene) and pH of the wood were found in the butt log, followed by the middle log, and top log, respectively. The physical (thickness swelling, water absorption) and mechanical properties (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, and internal bond), and surface quality (surface roughness and contact angle) of the particleboards were negatively affected by increasing tree height. The best properties were obtained for the particleboards produced from the particles of the butt log (0-3 m).Öğe Effect of paraffin application technique on the physical and mechanical properties of particleboard(Walter De Gruyter Gmbh, 2014) Baharoğlu, Mehmet; Nemli, Gökay; Sarı, Bünyamin; Ayrılmış, Nadir; Bardak, Selahattin; Zekovic, EmirThe main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of paraffin application technique on the quality properties of particleboard. The paraffin was applied to the wood particles in three different techniques: (1) before resination, (2) after resination, and (3) with resin. The modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, internal bond strength, thickness swelling, surface roughness parameters, contact angle, and formaldehyde emission of the boards were determined. Statistical analysis showed that paraffin application technique had a significant influence on all properties of particleboards. The boards made using technique (1) had the highest mechanical properties and lowest surface roughness, formaldehyde emission and contact angle values. Data mining is a very important technique in determining customer behavior. However, the work done on this subject is limited. By analyzing customer behavior, consumer needs can be identified and satisfaction can be increased at the same time. In this study, factors (age, gender, marital status, child status) affecting the selection of the furniture type (classical and modern furniture) will be analyzed using decision tree which is one of the techniques of data mining. Urea-formaldehyde adhesive was used as a binder for manufacturing of test panels. Anatomical and chemical properties of wood species, and physical and mechanical properties particleboards were evaluated. The anatomical and chemical structures were found to be effective on the all of the properties of particleboards. Panels made from the particles including more amount of pine wood had highest mechanical strength properties and lowest thickness swelling values. Cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin contents, acidity and solubility values (in hot-cold water, dilute alkali and alcohol benzene) of wood significantly affected all of the properties of particleboards. The physical and mechanical properties of particleboards showed statistically differences related to the length, thickness and number of the cells and fibers.Öğe Effects of density profile and hot press diagram on the some technological properties of particleboard composite(2011) Bardak, Selahattin; Nemli, Gökay; Sarı, Bünyamin; Baharoğlu, Mehmet; Zekoviç, EmirIn this study, the effects of density profile and hot press diagram on the technological properties of particleboard were analyzed. Physical and mechanical properties of particleboards were evaluated. Density profile was found a main parameter affecting quality properties of particleboard. While increasing entrance pressure improved the modulus of rupture and elasticity, and thickness swelling of the panels, increasing exit pressure was found to be effective on the bonding strength and thickness swelling. Exit pressure did not statistically affect the bending properties. Decreasing feeding speed of the hot press significantly improved all of the properties. While high surface density improved the modulus of rupture and elasticity, and thickness swelling, high core density caused better internal bond strength and thickness swelling. Entrance pressure was found to be effective on the surface density of particleboard. Exit pressure did not statistically affect the surface density, however, increased the core density.Öğe Effects of hardener type, urea usage and conditioning period on the quality properties of particleboard(Elsevier SCI LTD, 2014) Atar, İlkay; Nemli, Gökay; Ayrılmış, Nadir; Baharoğlu, Mehmet; Sarı, Bünyamin; Bardak, SelahattinThe effects of hardener type (ammonium chloride, ammonium sulphate and aluminium sulphate), urea usage (with urea and without urea), and conditioning period (one day and one month) of the particleboard on the physical (thickness swelling), mechanical (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and internal bond strength), surface properties, and formaldehyde emission of particleboard and acidity of the wood particles were investigated. The hardener type was found to be effective all of the properties of particleboard. The pH of the wood particle with the urea was slightly higher than that of particles without urea. The lowest pH value for the resinated wood particles was obtained from ammonium chloride, followed by ammonium sulphate and aluminium sulphate, respectively. The best quality properties were obtained from the particleboards manufactured with ammonium chloride, followed by particleboard made with the ammonium sulphate and aluminium sulphate, respectively. The urea usage significantly decreased the formaldehyde emission of the particleboards while it slightly decreased the mechanical properties and increased thickness swelling. Increasing conditioning period of the particleboards from one day to one month improved the quality properties.Öğe Emprenye maddelerinin okaliptüs (eucalyptus camaldulensis dehn.) odununun fiziksel özelliklerine etkileri(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2011) Bardak, Selahattin; Yel, Hüsnü; Bakır, Davut; Peker, HüseyinBu çalışma; bazı ticari emprenye maddeleri ve borlu-polietilen glikol’le işleme tabi tutulan okaliptüs odununda, emprenye maddelerinin retensiyon ve daralma miktarına etkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlarına yönelik olarak hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmada dört tip emprenye maddesi grubu seçilmiştir: 1.Ticari emprenye maddeleri; [Amonyum sülfat, Vacsol-WR (WR), Immersol-WR WR ve Tanalith-CBC] ; 2. Borlu bileşikler; [Borik asit, Boraks], 3. Polietilen glikol (400); 4. su iticiler; [Stiren, Metilmetakrilat] kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre; ticari ve borlu maddelerle emprenye edilen okaliptüs odununda tam kuru oduna oranla % retensiyon değerleri düşük düzeyde gerçekleşirken; su itici maddelerle muamele edilen okaliptüs odununda istatistiksel anlamda önemli (P?0.05) derecede yüksek retensiyon oranları elde edilmiştir. Tüm yıkanma sürelerine göre PEG 400 daralmayı önleyici etkiyi gösterirken; diğer uygulamalar daralmayı önleyici etki göstermemiştir.Öğe Experimental investigation and prediction of bonding strength of Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) bonded with polyvinyl acetate adhesive(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2015) Tiryaki, Sebahattin; Bardak, Selahattin; Bardak, TimuçinAdhesive bond strength of solid wood plays a key role in the efficient use of wood in a large number of engineering applications. In this study, the effects of amount of adhesive, pressing pressure, and pressing time on bonding strength of beech wood bonded with polyvinyl acetate adhesive were investigated and predicted by developing an artificial neural network (ANN) model. Experimental results have showed that bonding strength of wood samples increased generally by increasing amount of adhesive, pressing pressure, and pressing time. Besides, ANN analysis has yielded highly satisfactory results. The designed neural network model allows predicting the bonding strength of wood samples with mean absolute percentage error of 2.454% and correlation coefficient of 97.8% for testing phase. It is clear from the results that the model has a good learning and generalization ability. This model therefore can be used to predict bonding strength of beech samples bonded with polyvinyl acetate adhesive under given conditions. Consequently, this study provides beneficial insights for practitioners in terms of the safe and efficient use of wood as an engineering material in applications related to the strength of the bond between wood and adhesive.Öğe Global research trends in wood pellets, a renewable energy source: A bibliometric analysis(Lukasiewicz Research Network, 2025) Akyüz, İlker; Ersen, Nadir; Bardak, Selahattin; Polat, Kinyas; Acar, MustafaDue to global warming and climate change, more importance has started to be attached to renewable energy sources as alternatives to fossil fuels. Wood pellets are among the renewable energy sources, and have been the subject of a growing number of studies. Therefore, developments and trends in research on wood pellets can be determined through bibliometric analysis of publications. This study explores the current status and "hot topics" of research on wood pellets using performance analysis and scientific mapping based on publications from 1980-2023. For this purpose, we carried out a bibliometric analysis of 758 publications in the Web of Science database scanned with the keywords "wood" and "pellets". The numbers of publications and citations on wood pellets have grown steadily over the years, with 67% of publications and 89% of citations coming in the last decade. A total of 2,294 authors from 884 organizations and six continents have contributed publications in the field of wood pellets. The University of British Columbia (Canada) and the United States Department of Energy (USA) were the institutions with the most numerous and the most cited publications. Sokhansanj Shahab from the University of British Columbia was the most active and most cited author. The published literature has focused on three topics: biomass, bioenergy, and combustion. İleri mühendislik malzemeleri orman endüstrisi sektörüne yeni piyasa fırsatları sunarken, verimlilik ve performansı da artırmaktadır. Güncel bilgiye sahip olmak ve bilgiyi üretebilir hale gelmek ülkemizdeki orman endüstrisinin küresel rekabet gücünü artırmak, yeni fırsatları değerlendirmek açısından önemlidir. Link) in various concentration (1%, 3%, 5%) with boron compounds up to standart of ASTM 1413-76 and identifying the areas of usage in outdoor furniture industry. For that purpose, it is identified that occurrence changes in mechanical features (compression strentgh). According to the experiment results, control samples compression strengths value (32.43 N/mm(2)) is determined as 3% (the highest) pyrite + Boric acide (48.14 N/mm(2)) and 1% (the lowest) Pyrite (36.81 N/mm(2)). When the pyrite material was used both alone and in combination with boron compounds, it increased the compression strengths according to the control sample.Öğe The influence of moisture content of raw material on the physical and mechanical properties, surface roughness, wettability, and formaldehyde emission of particleboard composite(Elsevier SCI LTD, 2012) Baharoğlu, Mehmet; Nemli, Gökay; Sarı, Bünyamin; Bardak, Selahattin; Ayrılmış, NadirThe objectives of this research were to investigate surface characteristics, physical (thickness swelling) and mechanical (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and internal bond strength) properties, and formaldehyde emission of particleboard composite, as affected by moisture content of wood. Three-layered particleboard panels manufactured from wood particles at five different moisture contents (20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 95%). Roughness measurements, average roughness (R-a), mean peak-to-valley height (R-z), and maximum roughness (R-y), were taken from the sanded samples along and across the sandmarks using a fine stylus tracing technique. Contact angle measurements were obtained by using a goniometer connected with a digital camera and computer system. Statistical analysis showed significant differences in the surface roughness, contact angle, formaldehyde emission, physical and mechanical properties of the panels following moisture content. Based on the findings obtained from this study, an increase or decrease in the moisture content of wood beyond a certain limit, before chipping operations, negatively affected the wettability and smoothness of particles, and formaldehyde emission, physical and mechanical properties of particleboards.Öğe The influences of drying temperature of wood particles on the quality properties of particleboard composite(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2013) Sarı, Bünyamin; Nemli, Gökay; Ayrılmış, Nadir; Baharoğlu, Mehmet; Bardak, SelahattinThe objective of this investigation was to evaluate the effects of drying temperature of wood particles on the quality properties of particleboard composite and chemical properties of wood. Test panels were manufactured using wood particles dried at different temperatures ranging from 100 to 180 degrees C. Based on the findings obtained in this study, increasing drying temperature of the particles negatively affected the mechanical properties, surface roughness, and wettability of the particleboards. However, increasing drying temperature significantly caused a positive effect on the thickness swelling. The results showed that the particleboards made from particles dried at 180 degrees C did not meet the required levels of mechanical strength properties according to the EN 312 (2010) standard for furniture production. The particleboards made from wood particles dried at 150 degrees C for 35 min appeared to be a practical choice for interior fitments.Öğe Makine öğrenmesi yöntemleri ile hisse senedi fiyat tahmini: Kâğıt firması örneği(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2024) Bardak, Selahattin; Ersen, Nadir; Polat, Kinyas; Akyüz, Kadri CemilBir finansal formül kullanarak hisse senedi fiyatlarını tahmin etmek zordur. Hisse senetleri fiyatları, siyasi gelişmeler, küresel ekonomi, beklenmedik olaylar, piyasa anormallikleri ve ilgili şirketlerin özellikleri gibi çok sayıda faktörden etkilenir. Hisse senedi fiyatlarına ilişkin daha doğru tahminler yapmak için bilgisayar biliminin gelişmesiyle birlikte birçok bilgisayar bilimi yöntemi kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Kartonsan şirketinin hisse senedi fiyatını tahmin etmek için doğrusal regresyon (LR) algoritmaları, rastgele orman (RF), gradyan güçlendirme makinesi (GBM) ve yapay sinir ağları (YSA) gibi makine öğrenmesi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Daha sonra kullanılan algoritmaların sonuçları karşılaştırılmıştır. Hisse senedi fiyatı tahmini için ilk olarak BIST (Borsa İstanbul)’te işlem gören Kartonsan firmasının 2011-2022 yılları arasındaki üçer aylık finansal çizelgeler kullanılarak firmaya ait finansal oran hesaplanmıştır ve bu oranlar girdi olarak kullanılmıştır. Çıktı olarak kullanılan firmanın hisse senedi fiyatlarının ise üçer aylık ortalamaları alınmıştır. GBM ve RF algoritmaları başarılı tahmin sonuçlarına sahip olmasına rağmen GBM algoritması en başarılı sonucu vermiştir. RF algoritmasının ise LR ve YSA’ya göre daha iyi performans gösterdiği bulunmuştur. YSA’nın hisse senedi fiyat tahmininde en kötü performansa sahip teknik olduğu belirlenmiştir.Öğe Mobilya sektöründe çalışan yöneticilerin öğrenen organizasyona ilişkin algıları(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2015) Ersen, Nadir; Ardıç, Muhammed; Akyüz, İlker; Peker, Hüseyin; Bardak, SelahattinBu çalışmanın amacı mobilya sektörü alanında faaliyet gösteren işletmelerin üst ve orta kademe pozisyonlarında görev yapan kişilerin öğrenen organizasyon algılamalarını, işletmenin öğrenen organizasyona ne derece önem verdiğini belirleyebilmektir. Yöneticilerin öğrenen organizasyona ilişkin algıları, sürekli öğrenme, diyalogla öğrenme, takım halinde öğrenme, paylaşımcı sistemler, güçlendirilmiş personel, sistemler arası bağlantı ve liderlik olmak üzere yedi boyutta incelenmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama yöntemi olarak anket tekniğinden yararlanılmış ve anket mobilya sektöründe faaliyet gösteren 13 işletmede çalışan 129 yöneticiye uygulanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde, yüzde, frekans, Mann-Whitney U testi ve Kruskal Wallis testlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, mobilya sektöründe genel olarak öğrenen organizasyon kavramının uygulanmadığı ve yöneticilerin büyük çoğunluğunun öğrenen organizasyon kavramı hakkında bilgi sahibi olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Yöneticilerin öğrenen organizasyona ilişkin görüşleri yaş, gelir, eğitim, pozisyona ve görev süresine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık gösterirken, cinsiyete göre ise anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı bulunmuştur.Öğe Performance evaluation of multiple adaptive regression splines, teaching-learning based optimization and conventional regression techniques in predicting mechanical properties of impregnated wood(Springer, 2019) Tiryaki, Sebahattin; Tan, Hüseyin; Bardak, Selahattin; Kankal, Murat; Nacar, Sinan; Peker, HüseyinUnderstanding the mechanical behaviour of impregnated wood is crucial in making a preliminary decision on the usability of such woods for structural purposes. In this paper, by considering concentration (1, 3 and 5%), pressure (1, 1.5 and 2 atm.), and time (30, 60, 90 and 120 min), an experimental study was performed, and the mechanical behaviour of impregnated wood was determined as a result of the experimental process. Multiple adaptive regression splines (MARS), teaching–learning based optimization (TLBO) algorithms and conventional regression analysis (CRA) were applied to diferent regression functions by using experimentally obtained data. The functions were checked against each other to detect the best equation for each parameter and to assess performances of MARS, TLBO and CRA methods in the prediction of mechanical properties. The experimental results showed that higher values of mechanical properties were obtained when lower concentration, pressure and time were chosen. Overall, all the functions successfully predicted the mechanical properties. However, the MARS and TLBO provided better accuracy in predicting the mechanical properties. The modeling results indicated that the MARS and TLBO are promising new methods in predicting the mechanical properties of impregnated wood. With the use of these methods, the mechanical behavior of impregnated wood could be determined with high levels of accuracy. There are differences in methods used to adapt wood to ambient conditions. Impregnation is a widely used method of wood preservation. In terms of efficiency, it is critical to optimize the parameters for impregnation. Data mining techniques reduce most of the cost and operational challenges with accurate prediction in the wood industry. In this study, three data-mining algorithms were applied to predict bending strength in impregnated wood materials (Pinus sylvestris L. and Millettia laurentii). Models were created from real experimental data to examine the relationship between bending strength, diffusion time, vacuum duration, and wood type, based on decision trees (DT), random forest (RF), and Gaussian process (GP) algorithms. The highest bending strength was achieved with wenge (Millettia laurentii) wood in 10 bar vacuum and the diffusion condition during 25 min. The results showed that all algorithms are suitable for predicting bending strength. The goodness of fit for the testing phase was determined as 0.994, 0.986, and 0.989 in the DT, RF, and GP algorithms, respectively. Moreover, the importance of attributes was determined in the algorithms.
