Öğe Development of the workplace work environment ergonomics scale for nurses(Nevzat Demirci, 2023) Ağar, Ali; Berşe, Soner; Dirgar, EzgiThis study aimed to design and validate a comprehensive scale to assess ergonomic risks in the work environment for nurses. The instrument includes five subscales: Work Area Ergonomic Risks, Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomic Risks Related to Medical Devices, Cognitive Ergonomic Risks, and Environmental Ergonomic Risks. The development process involved expert opinions for content validity and a pilot study for surface validity, leading to a 32-item draft. An exploratory factor analysis revealed a 5-factor structure, explaining 77.804% of total variance. Items with factor loadings below 0.30 were removed, resulting in a final 28-item scale. The Cronbach's alpha for the scale was found to be 0.922, indicating high internal consistency. The results of a confirmatory factor analysis also confirmed the 5-factor structure. These findings suggest that the Workplace Ergonomics Scale for Nurses is a valid and reliable tool that can aid in identifying ergonomic risks in nursing work environments. By using this instrument, healthcare organizations can implement targeted strategies to improve workplace conditions and enhance the well-being of their nursing staff. Future research should aim to verify the scale's applicability in different countries and healthcare settings.Öğe Evaluation of disaster response self-efficacy levels of nursing students studying in the region during Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes: A cross-sectional study(İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Üniversitesi, 2025) Ataman Bor, Neşe; Dirgar, Ezgi; Ağar, Ali; Berşe, Soner; İpekçi, Nuriye NesrinObjective: Nurses have important roles in the care of people affected by disasters. Incorporating disaster management into nursing higher education enhances nurses' competencies in their professional careers. This study aims to evaluate the disaster response self-efficacy of nursing students studying in the region affected by the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023. Material and Methods: The research, designed as a descriptive and cross-sectional, was conducted with 838 nursing students between March and April 2023. The data were collected using a Personal Information Form and the Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale. The significance level of the study was found to be p<0.05. Results: The average age of the students was 20.72±2.09, with 78.6% being female, 49% having experienced a loss among their family or friends, and 10.1% having received disaster-related training. The participants' total scale score average was 57.92±14.17. A statistically significant difference was found between gender, class levels, receiving disaster-related training, participating in search and rescue operations in the earthquake region, and the total scale score. Conclusion: It was determined that the self-efficacy of student nurses in disaster response was at a moderate level. Keywords: Disasters, earthquakes, nursing students, self psychology.Öğe Examination of transition shock and colleague violence among newly graduated nurses: A cross-sectional study(Wiley Online, 2024) Berşe, Soner; Ağar, Ali; Dirgar, Ezgi; Tosun, BetülBackground: The adaptation process for new nursing graduates is challenging, with transition shock and colleague violence impacting both individuals and institutions.Objective: This study investigates transition shock and colleague violence among newly graduated nurses in Turkey during their adaptation process.Methods: The study involved 235 newly graduated nurses from a state university in Turkey with at least six months of clinical experience. Data were collected using the Nursing Transition Shock Scale and the Exposure to Colleague Violence Scale.Results: Among the participants, 27.23% experienced colleague violence and 56.17% witnessed it. The mean score on the Nursing Transition Shock Scale was 53.62 +/- 15.39. Female nurses and younger age groups faced more challenges.Conclusion: Supportive work environments, mentorship programs, and collaborative teamwork are crucial for newly graduated nurses. Updating nursing education programs to prepare students for these challenges is essential. This study underscores the need for targeted interventions.Öğe Nursing Students' Early Attitudes Towards the Use of Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT: An Exploratory Study(John Wiley and Sons Inc, 2025) Berşe, Soner; Akça, Kamile; Dirgar, Ezgi; Ağar, AliBackground: As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly prevalent in nursing education, understanding student attitudes is essential for its effective integration. Aim: This study aimed to explore nursing students' attitudes towards AI and ChatGPT in the context of nursing education. Design: This study employed a cross-sectional design. Methods: A sample of Turkish nursing students (n = 347) was included in the study. Data were collected from August–October 2023 using the Student Introduction Form and the General Attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence Scale (GAAIS) through Google Forms. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, and ANOVA were used for data analysis. Correlation analysis was performed to examine the relationship between variables. Results: Among the participants, 56.8% were aware of AI, 16.4% had previous experience using an AI application, 46.4% believed that AI is beneficial in nursing practices and 79.3% supported the use of AI in the nursing field. A weakly positive correlation was found between the positive and negative attitude subscales of the GAAIS (r = 0.274, p < 0.01). Conclusions: This study reveals the complexity and variability of nursing students' attitudes towards AI and ChatGPT. Increased exposure to these technologies may improve future nursing practices. Educational institutions and policymakers need to promote positive attitudes towards AI and ChatGPT to facilitate their effective integration. To ensure ethical and responsible usage of AI, universities must carefully evaluate the risks and benefits associated with these technologies.
