Öğe Identifying new perspectives on geothermal energy investments(Emerald, 2022) Adalı, Zafer; Dinçer, Hasan; Eti, Serkan; Mikhaylov, Alexey; Yüksel, SerhatThis chapter aims to identify new perspectives of geothermal energy investments. For this purpose, all studies in the Web of Science regarding the geothermal energy are taken into consideration. These studies are evaluated with the help of text-mining approach. In this framework, most frequently stated words, two words, and three words are identified. It is concluded that technological development with respect to the geothermal energy is an important issue in this framework. After that, it is also determined that risk is another important factor in this regard. Finally, new implications regarding the geothermal energy are also considered by the researchers. Geothermal energy has a positive contribution to solve many different problems, such as energy dependency, current account deficit problem, and carbon emission. Hence, this study generated the significant issues to improve these investments. While considering the results, it is understood that technological developments related to the geothermal energy projects should be followed effectively. In addition, an effective risk evaluation should be conducted before implementing these projectsÖğe Key issues for the improvements of shallow geothermal investments(Springer Link, 2022) Yüksel, Serhat; Dinçer, Hasan; Mikhaylov Alexey; Adalı, Zafer; Eti, SerkanEnergy is a vital need for a country. Therefore, it is essential for countries to be independent in terms of energy. One of the most appropriate ways to do this is to increase the use of renewable energy. However, there are some barriers to this process, such as high costs. Shallow geothermal systems are also energy types that will reduce the energy dependence of countries in this process. Nevertheless, the negative aspects of renewable energy projects also apply to shallow geothermal systems. In parallel, in this study, it is aimed to determine the issues that are important for increasing shallow geothermal energy investments. In this framework, balanced scorecard-based criteria were analyzed with the DEMATEL method. As a result, it has been determined that the issues related to research and development have the most importance in this process. Therefore, in order to develop these systems, it would be appropriate for countries to primarily conduct research on new technologies.Öğe Strategy improvements to minimize the drawbacks of geothermal investments by using spherical fuzzy modelling(John Wiley and Sons Ltd, 2022) Yüksel, Serhat; Dinçer, Hasan; Eti, Serkan; Adalı, ZaferThis study aims to evaluate the significant risks in geothermal energy investments. For this purpose, a model is suggested by considering the Spherical fuzzy DEMATEL technique. With the help of the literature examination, eight important risks are identified for these projects. In the following step, their weights are calculated so that more significant risk issues can be understood. Another calculation is also performed by triangular fuzzy DEMATEL to check the consistency of the analysis results. The results of both Spherical and triangular fuzzy DEMATEL techniques are similar. The most essential risk issues are the same for both methods that demonstrate the validity of the findings. The results indicate that the risk of accidents because of incorrect design-material use has the greatest importance since it has the highest weight. Moreover, the risks of decreased water resources and pollution of them also play a significant role in this regard. Great attention should be paid to the quality of the material to be used in geothermal energy facilities. Otherwise, there is a risk of explosion and fire in the facility. These problems threaten the lives of many people. In this process, states also have very important duties. Some standards should be determined for the quality of the material used in these facilities. In addition, the compliance of the quality of these materials with the regulations should be checked with the routine inspections. This situation will minimize the risk of accidents due to using poor-quality materials.
