    Tekvando sporcularının kilo düşme profillerinin belirlenmesi

    This study was conducted to determine the weight loss profiles of taekwondo athletes. The study was designed in a quantitative research model and a survey design was used. The population of the research was made with the participation of 163 volunteers, 92 male and 71 female, who came to the championship from 81 provinces affiliated to the Ministry of Youth Sports and private clubs from 81 provinces affiliated to the Ministry of Youth Sports. As a data collection tool in the study, the “Athlete Weight Drop Methods and Effects Scale” developed by Yarar et al. (2016) was used. Before analyzing the data, normality test was applied to decide on the statistical methods to be applied. In statistical procedures, the skewness and kurtosis values of the data were examined, and it was determined that the values obtained here were in the range of -2+2. It was accepted that these values were suitable for normal distribution. Therefore, independent groups t-test, one-way variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlation analysis were used in the data analysis. In this study, the Cronbach Alpa reliability coefficient of the measurement tool was determined as 0.786. According to the analysis, 56.4% of the participants were male, 43.6% were female, 67.5% were not national athletes, 47.9% had difficulty in weight loss and 44.2% checked their weight once a week. While a significant difference was found in favor of men in the psychological effect sub-dimension in the mean scores of the weight loss methods scale of the athletes, a significant difference was found in favor of those who had difficulty in the total score of the scale, physiological and psychological effect and diet sub-dimensions in the variable of having difficulty in weight loss. As a result, it was determined that it is very important for Taekwondo athletes to adjust their weight loss in the long term with their healthy diets and to proceed in a controlled manner in weight loss in terms of increasing their sportive performance and preventing permanent damage with rapid weight loss.

    The effect of circadian rhythmicity on lower extremity strength and balance in female athletes

    The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of circadian rhythmicity (CR) on lower extremity strength and balance performance in 22 female athletes (19-24 y). Participants underwent isokinetic knee strength, Single Leg Hop Tests (SLHT), Y Balance Test (YBT), and isokinetic static/dynamic balance tests. All measurements were randomized and performed at 9:00, 14:00, and 19:00 to assess CR variation. In total, 3 angular strength, 5 jump, and 2 balance tests were analyzed. When comparing results across time zones, body temperature, isokinetic 60 degrees/sec extension (Ext) strength, and several bipedal static balance parameters Forward-Backward Standard Deviation (SBFD), Average Forward-Backward Speed (AFBS), and Ellipse Area (EA)) showed statistical significance (p>0.05). No significant differences were found in other isokinetic strength tests, all SLHTs, Y balance, or dynamic balance tests (p>0.05). Significant CR effects on lower extremity strength were observed only in the 60 sec extension, with overall strength peaking at 14:00. Strength asymmetry remained similar across time points. These findings suggest that time-sensitive performance parameters like strength and static balance are influenced by CR, while balance and coordination parameters appear more stable. Accordingly, scheduling strength-based training during midday hours may optimize performance by leveraging CR-related variations.

    The relationship between functional hopping performance and foot posture index in elite female handball players

    The study aimed to determine the relationship between anatomical foot posture and functional jump performance in elite female handball players. The study was performed according to a randomized repeated measures crossover design. Twenty-nine volunteer elite female handball players (age 19.62 ± 1.18 years, height 174.31 ± 5.93 cm, weight 64.62 ± 5.08 kg, and BMI 21.29 ± 1.70 kg/m²) participated in the study. Single leg hop for distance (SH), triple leg hop for distance (TH), crossover leg hop for distance (CH), medial side triple hop (MSTH), 90° medial rotation hop (MRH), single leg vertical jump (SLVJ), and counter movement jump (CMJ) tests were performed to determine the functional jump performance of the subjects. In addition, the foot posture of the subjects was evaluated with the Foot Posture Index (FPI-6). The normality of the data was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and it was found that they followed a normal distribution. Paired Samples T-Test and One-Way ANOVA test were used in the comparison analyses. The relationship between variables was evaluated using the Pearson Correlation test. Significant differences existed between the dominant (DS) and non-dominant (NDS) sides in SH, TH, MSTH, and MRH tests. No significant difference was found between jump test limb symmetry indexes (LSI). There was no significant difference between DS and NDS sides in FPI total scores, but significant relationships existed between some FPI-6 criteria and jump tests. Although the results showed that the subjects had differences in functional performance on the DS and NDS, the LSI values were within the safe range. In addition, it can be said that foot posture affects functional jump performance in elite-level female handball players.

    The role of different rest periods on post-activation performance enhancement in plyometric preload

    Background: The optimal combination of factors such as rest duration, type of activity, and individual variability for maximizing post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) following plyometric conditioning activity (plyometric CA) remains a subject of debate. To investigate the effects of different rest periods (4, 8, and 12 min) on performance following plyometric CA, this randomized controlled study was conducted. Methods: Twenty physically active men were included in this study (mean ± SD: age 20.74 ± 1.94 years, with a range of 18–24 years, body weight 70.61 ± 3.01 kg, and height 176 ± 1.8 cm). Participants familiarized themselves with the plyometric CA protocol through a preliminary session involving three sets of ten tuck jumps to ensure proper technique. A familiarization test was performed on the first day. They performed in a vertical jump test with different rest periods (4, 8, 12 min) between tests, set at 48-hour intervals and the randomized design was compared to the control group. The data obtained were analyzed using appropriate statistical tests in SPSS 25 and Microsoft Office Excel. Results: Although no statistically significant differences were observed between conditions (p > 0.05), a consistent increasing trend in performance indicators was noted following 4-, 8-, and 12-minute rest intervals. Compared to the control condition, jump height increased by 2.81%, 2.95%, and 3.01%; peak power output (PPO) increased by 1.84%, 1.94%, and 2.59%; and PPO relative to total body mass increased by 2.04%, 2.06%, and 2.15%, respectively. Conclusions: In conclusion, the findings highlight the complexity of rest interval effects on PAPE and suggest the necessity of individualized rest strategies to optimize athletic performance.

    The relationship between agility and lower extremity strength in female basketball players

    Background: The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between agility and lower extremity strength in female basketball players. Methods: Fifteen females aged 18–24 years (age 20.80 years, height 1.70 cm, weight 67.60 kg and body mass index (BMI) 23.20 kg/m²) participated in the study voluntarily. In the study, 5-0-5 Agility (505), Pro-Agility (PA), T Agility (T-test), T Drill Hop (T) tests were used to determine the agility skills of the participants. To determine the lower extremity strength performance of the participants, concentric/concentric (Con/Con) isokinetic knee extension (Ex) and flexion (Flx) tests at angular velocities of 60, 180, 240 and 300°/sec, 5 different single leg hop tests (SLHT) [single leg hop for distance (SL), triple leg hop for distance (THD), crossover hop for distance (CHD), medial side triple hop for distance (MSTH), 90° medial rotation hop for distance (MRH)] and 3 different one-repetition maximum (1 RM) [leg press (LP), leg extension (LEX) and leg curl (LC)] tests were performed. Results: The results of the study showed a moderate, high and excellent negative correlation between SLHTs and agility (p < 0.05). Comparisons of agility and strength parameters on the right (RS) and left (LS) sides showed no significant difference (p > 0.05). In addition, ipsilateral hamstring/quadriceps (H/Q) and bilateral (H/H-Q/Q) strength ratios and limb symmetry indexes (LSI) obtained from the strength results of the subjects were within the normal range. Conclusions: As a result, we found a negative relationship between agility and lower extremity functional performance tests in female basketball players. In addition, it can be said that participants not likely to be injured under normal conditions (non-contact) because of the asymmetric strength ratios are within the safe range.

    Determination of post-earthquake trauma levels of university students

    Objactive: The aim of this study is to evaluate the post-earthquake trauma levels of young people exposed to earthquake and to examine the effect of recreational sports activities on their social, physical and psychological recovery. Method: The study will focus on 10 provinces, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Hatay, Adiyaman, Adana, Osmaniye, Diyarbakir, Kilis and Sanliurfa, which were affected by the earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaras. A sample group of 275 people from Artvin Çoruh University will voluntarily participate in this study. Trauma level assessment scale and personal information form will be used to collect data. The research was evaluated at the p<0.05 confidence interval. Result: The findings of the study show that there is a significant difference between the excitement limitation and affective configuration sub-dimension of the post-earthquake trauma symptoms scale and the gender variable, and that there is a significant difference between the sleep problem dimension and the class variable (p <0.05). Conclusion: As a result, it is seen that the participants' behavioral problems, emotional limitation, affective structuring and scale total scores are at high levels, while their cognitive structuring and sleep problems are at medium levels.

    Artvin yöresinde odun hammaddesi üretim ve fidanlık-ağaçlandırma işçilerinin izometrik kuvvet değerlerinin ve vücut kompozisyonlarının belirlenmesi üzerine bir araştırma

    Bu çalışma kapsamında ormancılık sektöründe çalışan işçilerin izometrik kuvvet ve vücut kompozisyon değerleri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, Artvin yöresinde 7 adet odun hammaddesi üretimi, 1 adet ağaçlandırma yapılan alan ve 2 adet fidanlık olmak üzere toplam 10 deneme alanında; tamamı erkek bireylerden oluşan 31 üretim ve 30 fidanlık- ağaçlandırma işçisi üzerinde çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Çalışma neticesinde orman işçilerinin bacak kuvveti değerleri; üretim işçilerinde ortalama 82.8 kg, fidanlık-ağaçlandırma işçilerinde ise ortalama 70 kg olarak, sırt kuvveti değerleri ise; üretim işçilerinde ortalama 70.5 kg, fidanlık-ağaçlandırma işçilerinde ortalama 64.8 kg olarak tespit edilmiştir. Üretim işçilerinin vücutlarındaki yağ oranları ortalama % 16.33, fidanlık-ağaçlandırma işçilerinin ise ortalama % 19.1 olarak bulunmuştur. Vücut yağ yüzdesi değerlerinin işçilerin yaş ortalamaları dikkate alındığında hem üretim hem de fidanlık-ağaçlandırma işçilerinin “orta” grupta yer aldığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca Vücut Kitle İndeksi (VKİ) değerlerine bakıldığında her iki işçi grubununda “Şişman” sınıfında yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir.
