| dc.description.abstract | Yaklaşık 200 yıldır Batı etkisi, Türkiye’nin modernleşmesinde, iç ve dış politikasının şekillenmesinde en önemli faktörlerden birisi olagelmiştir. Osmanlı’nın son dönemlerinde Batılılaşma politikası devleti kurtaracak yegâne yol olarak görülürken, Cumhuriyet Dönemi’ne gelindiğindeyse, Batı etkisi hem ulus inşasında hem de sekülerleşme, demokratikleşme gibi temel süreçlerde baskın bir faktör olmayı sürdürmüş; böylelikle Türkiye, Batılılaşma yönünde çok daha somut adımlar atmıştır. Aynı zamanda bir demokratikleşme süreci olduğu da savunulabilecek Türk modernleşmesi/Batılılaşmasına, Türkiye siyasetinin her zaman temel taşlarından biri olan Türk milliyetçiliğinin yaklaşımıysa önemli bir çalışma konusu olmuştur. Bu çalışma da Türk milliyetçiliğinin siyasallaşması sürecini ve bu süreç içerisindeki Batı ve Batılılaşma algısını incelemektedir. Ayrıca yakın tarihteki Avrupa Birliği-Türkiye ilişkilerine dair Türk milliyetçiliğinin TBMM’deki en büyük siyasi temsili Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi’nin yaklaşımı değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. | |
| dc.description.abstract | For about 200 years, the impact of the West has been one of the most important factor on modernization of Turkey and shaping of its domestic and foreign policy. As Westernization policy was considered to be the only way to save the state during the last period of the Ottoman Empire, the impact of the West remained a dominant factor both in the building of the nation and in fundamental processes such as secularization and democratization during the Republic period; thus, Turkey took more concrete steps towards Westernization. At the same time, Turkish nationalism was always one of the cornerstones of Turkish policy in terms of Turkish modernization/Westernization, which one might advocate was a democratization process. This paper examines the politicization process of Turkish nationalism and the Western/Westernization perception during this process. Furthermore, the paper evaluates the approach of the Nationalist Movement Party, which is the biggest political representative of Turkish nationalism in TGNA in terms of the European Union-Turkey relations in recent history. | |
