    3D printed microwave clamp probe design to detect water level in PVC pipes

    The permittivity of water is considerably larger than that of air. As the amount of water in PVC water pipes increases, the air will be replaced by water. This means that the electromagnetic environment properties inside the pipe will change. In this study, we proposed a microwave clamp probe designed with a 3D printer that can detect the percentage of water in 50 mm diameter PVC water pipes. The clamp probe allows measurement of return loss from a single port for determining the fill rate of water without any physical intervention from outside the pipe. The clamp, which is structurally similar to a loop antenna, operates at a frequency of 2.45 GHz. As a result of simulations and experimental measurements for different fill percentages of the pipe, the input impedance of the clamp was calculated. Then, an impedance-fill rate graph was created, showing the amount of water in the pipe section according to the impedance values obtained. The impedance seen from the clamp input indicated a linear increase between 40-100 Omega, according to the 0%, 20%, 50%, 80% and 100% of the water in the pipe. The clamp has a compact structure that can be used as a plug-and-play anywhere on the horizontal.

    Açısal olarak değiştirilebilir dikdörtgen yamalı frekans seçici yüzeylerle, ayarlanabilir bant geçiren filtre tasarımı

    Frekans Seçici Yüzey (FSY), bulunduğu ortamdan üzerine gelen elektromanyetik dalgalara karşı filtreözelliği gösterirler. Bu çalışmada mikrodalga frekanslarda bant geçiren özellikte frekans seçici yüzeyönerilmiştir. Bu amaçla iletken yüzey üzerinde oluşturulan ve açısal olarak döndürülebilen dikdörtgen yamalarkullanılmıştır. Yamaların yüzeyle arasındaki açı değiştikçe, FSY iletim ve yansıma karakteristiği de değişmekteve yüzeyin, filtre olarak çalıştığı frekans değeri artmaktadır. Önerilen çalışmada, açısal değişimli FSY için 1x1,2x1 ve 2x2 diziler tasarlanmış ve hepsinde yaklaşık olarak aynı karakteristiği verdiği görülmüştür. Tasarımda;FSY-yama açısı 0 derece olduğunda 2,0 GHz civarında olan geçirme frekansı; 15 derece için 2,3 GHz’e kadarçıktığı görülmüştür.

    Analysis of rectifier stage number and load resistance in an RF energy harvesting circuit

    In this study, a single-stage and three-stage Dicksonrectifier circuits that wouldbeabletoperformRFenergy harvesting were proposed. Operating frequencywas selected as 1 GHz. The highest efficiency valuewas obtained at 7 dBm input power. The load resis-tance values for the input power were parametricallyanalyzed and the power conversion efficiency and out-put voltage were calculated. In the cases where the bestperformance was obtained, while a maximum powerconversion efficiency of 70.5% was obtained in thesingle-stage Dickson circuit, maximum 77% efficiencywas obtained in the three-stage circuit. In addition, inthe cases where the highest efficiency was observed,the load resistance values were calculated as 5590 and14 610?at the single stage and three stages, respec-tively. The load resistance value used to obtain higherefficiency values in the three-stage circuit is increas-ing. Moreover, it was observed that as the number ofstages increased, the output voltage also increased lin-early. The maximum output voltage which was 1.8 Vin the single-stage was measured as ~5.16 V in three-stages.

    Broadband Wilkinson power divider based on chebyshev impedance transform method

    Broadband impedance matching techniques widely used in microwave circuits. In this study, weproposed a 2-way multi-layer micro strip Wilkinson Power Divider (WPD) circuit matched byChebyshev İmpedance matching technique. The design was chosen at 1 GHz center frequencyand as four layers. The design was carried out as 3 dimensions on Advanced Design tool (ADS2009) which is 3D microwave circuits’ simulation tool. For -20 dB return loss reference level,while the reflection bandwidth was 25% in the basic quarter wave matched WPD, it could beincreased up to 132% in the Chebyshev matching. Additionally, for the reference powertransmission of -4.3 dB, the transmission bandwidth raised up to %160. In the range, theproposed design could transfer 75% of the input power to both output ports.

    Design and implementation of a 3D printed RF power transceiver clamp to measure the water level in PVC water pipes

    There is very few ways to detect the amount of water inside polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes without physical intervention. In this study, using additive manufacturing technology, it has been tried to determine the filling rate of water in PVC water pipes with a 3D printed clamp. The fact that the dielectric of distilled water is approximately 80 times that of air has been decisive in the transmission of power from the inner medium of the PVC pipe. In this way, when the amount of water increases in the PVC pipe, the RF power transmission will be decrease depending on level of water inner side of the pipe. The clamp was designed in the f0 = 2.45 GHz ISM band. LC impedance matching was applied to the two ports of the clamp. Thus, higher transmission coefficient was obtained. Used as a near field probe, the clamp was designed to be used horizontally anywhere on the pipe, pluggable. Input power from first port of the clamp is sent to the spectrum analyzer through its second port. The measurement and simulation results show that the transmission coefficient between the ports varies between ?9 dB and ?15 dB according to the selected fill percentages of the pipe.

    Investigation of the effect of RF-DC power conversion efficiency single/double layered dickson rectifier circuit using HSMS285c diode in 545 MHz to 5800 MHz GSM and ISM bands

    In this study, a Dickson Voltage Multiplier circuit is designed that is used RF energy harvesting technologies as rectifier topology. The efficiency analysis of these designs at different frequency and load values has been investigated. Advanced Design System (ADS) is used for design and simulation of single and double layer rectifier circuit. This layout was made using microstrip line. HSMS-285C diode is used in the rectifier layer. Rectifier efficiency, output voltage and load value that drive the circuit was investigated in single-and double-layer Dickson voltage multiplier when input power adjusted between-10dBm to 20dBm. In the single layer rectifier, 36% efficiency was observed at 545MHz and 32% efficiency at the double layer.
