Öğe Türkiye’de Karadeniz Bölgesi’nden sıra dışı bir Yusufçuk kaydı: Selysiothemis nigra (Insecta: Odonata)(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Miroğlu, AliBu çalışmada, Türkiye’de dağılımı bilinen Selysiothemis nigra’nın bölgesel olarak ilginç bir kaydı verilmiştir. Orta Karadeniz Bölgesi’nde bulunan Samsun İli’nden iki tane dişi örnek toplanmış ve birçok erkek ve dişi örnek gözlenmiştir. Bu tür Karadeniz Bölgesi için yeni kayıttır. Ayrıca bu kayıt, Türkiye’de türün bilinen dağılımına ve türün bölgedeki göç rotasına yeni veriler sağlamaktadır.Öğe Diversity and abundance of tree species of a protected woodland: Southern Guinea savanna zone (Nigeria)(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Adeniji, Oluwafemi; Irunokhai, Eric; Adıgun, Joseph; Olorunfem, SundayThe study was carried out to assess the diversity and abundance of tree species in Federal College of Wildlife Management, New Bussa, Niger State. Twelve rectangular sample plots of 50x50m (3 hectares) were inventoried in the woodland. 273 trees per hectare were recorded, which belonged to 41 species and 18 families. Anogeissus leiocarpus was the most abundant tree species in the study area. The total basal area was 11.42m2 per hectare. Sterculia setigera had the highest mean diameter at breast height at 51.29 cm while the highest mean height of 14.87 m was recorded for Daniellia oliveri. Shannon-Weiner diversity index (H) value was 3.14. Maximum diversity index (Hmax) was estimated to be 5.61, Pielou’s species evenness index (EH) was 0.56 and Margalef’s index of species richness (M) was calculated to be 7.13. There is need to ensure continuous availability of trees in the study area through effective conservation programme.Öğe Gamochaeta coarctata: A new alien species for Turkey(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Yılmaz, HaticeAsteraceae is the largest plant family in Turkey and represented by 138 genera and 1336 species in Turkey. In this paper, Gamochaeta coarctata (Willd.) Kerguélen (Asteraceae) which is native in South America, is reported for the first time as a new alien species for Turkey (İstanbul). The plant was noticed, in a population of more than 250 individuals on the side of walking path in May 2021. In order to identify this unfamiliar plant, a sample was taken from the plant and its photographs were taken. When researched, it was seen that the plant is not included in the Flora of Turkey and with the literature review, the plant was identified as Gamochaeta coarctata which a new alien species for Turkey. In order to determine the area distribution of the plant, it was wandered around the land and it was observed that the plant became established on the edges of the walking paths on different routes, on the forest edge and in the meadow by the dam lake. In this paper, the species was introduced with taxonomical and morphological features. Its ecological impact was evaluated with potential risks also. The species can be considered in Turkey as an alien species and have a rapid expansion potential, but further field investigations on this species are necessary to avoid its diffusion.Öğe Antidiabetic green leafy vegetables currently sold in Trincomalee District in Sri Lanka(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Shanmugalıngam, Vinujan; Vivekanandarajah b, Saravanan; Rajamanoharan, PholtanDiabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce insulin or cannot use insulin effectively. In Sri Lanka, 1.2 million people among the age group of 20 to 79 were affected by diabetes in 2019. Biomedicine antidiabetic medications cause common side effects such as bladder cancer, dehydration, sinusitis, kidney illness, and urinary infections. Consumption of green leafy vegetables minimizes the risk of developing diabetes. Hence, this work aims to identify and document the green leafy vegetables currently sold in Trincomalee District in Sri Lanka by performing fieldwork visits to the main markets and the surrounding green leafy vegetable kiosks, shops, superstores, and streets from January 2019 to June 2021. The levels of antidiabetic scientific evidence available for the identified green leafy vegetable species were assessed by recognizing the relevant published works in the electronic databases Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, etc., until September 2021. A total of 99 green leafy vegetable species from 43 families were recognized. The majority of the green leafy vegetables had in vivo (33%), followed by in vitro (16%) and clinical (9%) as scientific evidences. Also, 49 antidiabetic compounds were already isolated from the identified green leafy vegetables. This study forms a foundation for further studies using the green leafy vegetable species in Trincomalee.Öğe Pistacia terebinthus (Menengiç) Gallerinin Antimikrobiyal etkisi ve GC-MS analizi(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Akpulat, Sibel; Tıraş, Mehmet; Şahinkaya, Meltem Sude; Akpulat, H. AşkınPistacia terebinthus galinin antimikrobiyal aktivitesini tespit etmek için disk difüzyon yöntemi kullanıldı. Standart mikroorganizmalarımız (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922) brain heart infüzyon brothlar içine alınarak Mc Farland 0.5 eşeline uyan konsantrasyonları hazırlandı. Mueller Hinton agar besiyerlerine steril eküvyon çubuklar kullanılarak ekildi. Bakteriler 35.5-36.5 derecede 24 saat inkübe edildi. İnkübasyon sonrası diskler etrafında oluşan inhibisyon bölgeleri bir cetvel yardımıyla ölçülerek değerlendirmeler yapıldı. P. terebinthus bitkisinin gal özütünün GC-MS analizini yapılmıştır. GC spektrumunda yaklaşık 85 bileşen belirlenmiştir, özütün içerdiği bileşenlerin yanısıra ve dekompozisyon ürünleri de mevcuttur. Özüte ait GC kromatogramı verilmiştir, ayrıca analizi yapılabilen fraksiyonlar üzerlerine belirlenen bileşenlerin isimleri ve olasılık oranları belirtilmiştir. P. terebinthus bitkisinin gal özütü gram (+) bakteriler olan Staphylococcus aureus ve Enterococcus faecalis üzerinde olumlu etkiye sahiptir ve büyük ölçüde bakterileri inhibe etmiştir. Antibiyotiklerin zararları düşünüldüğünde çıkardığımız özütün doğal olması ilaç gereksiniminde özütün kullanılmasının daha avantajlı olacağı düşünülmektedir.Öğe Unusual winter activity of Bufo bufo (Anura: Bufonidae)(Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi, 2021) Altunışık, Abdullah; Kara, YılmazAs ectotherms, amphibians in the northern hemisphere are forced into hibernation due to seasonal periods of low temperatures, shorter days or reduced food supplies. Although it has been reported in recent years that some ectothermic animals may be active even in winter due to the effect of global climate change, winter activity records for toads are uncommon. Therefore, we would like to report a winter activity case from north Anatolia, Turkey via the common toad, Bufo bufo. Documenting these unusual winter events not only adds to the biological knowledge of the species, but also provides valuable preliminary evidence for analyzing climate change patterns.
