| dc.description.abstract | Sınırlar, tarihsel-toplumsal bir inşa sürecinin ürünüdür. Bu çalışma, sınırlara tarihsel bir perspektiften odaklanarak Osmanlı Devleti’nin kuruluş döneminde sınırları anlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Söz konusu dönemde sınırların hangi kavramlarla ifade edildiği, Osmanlı uç toplumunun oluşumunda sınırların nasıl bir rol ve işleve sahip olduğu, Osmanlı sınırlarında toplumsal yapı ve örgütlenmenin ne şekilde gerçekleştiği, Osmanlı sınır kültürünün nasıl üretildiği ve Osmanlı’nın sınırları üzerinde güç ilişkilerinin nasıl şekillendiği, bu çalışmanın temel sorunsalını oluşturmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, Osmanlı’nın geleneksel sınır anlayışının uç, serhat ve hudut gibi kavramlarla belirli bir coğrafi bölgeyi ifade ettiği görülmüştür. Osmanlı’nın Selçuklu-Bizans uç bölgesinde ortaya çıkması, uçlarda kendi toplumsal yapı ve örgütlenmesini oluşturması ve uçlara özgü değerler sistemlerini üretmesi, Osmanlı uç toplumunu oluşturan dinamikler olmuştur. Merkezdekilerden farklı ama uçtakilerle benzer olma hali, Osmanlı sınır kültürünün temelini oluşturmuştur. Merkezi iktidar karşısında uç beyliği, uçları hem düşmana karşı korumak hem de düşmana karşı akınlar düzenlemek maksadıyla uçlarda dini-toplumsal gruplar üzerinden teşkilatlanarak Osmanlı sınırlarında bir güce dönüşmüştür. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Borders are the product of a historical-social construction process. This study aims to understand the borders in the foundation period of the Ottoman Empire by focusing on borders from a historical perspective. The main problematic of this study is to examine how borders were defined in this period, what role and function borders played in the formation of the Ottoman frontier society, how social structure and organisation took place on the Ottoman borders, how the Ottoman border culture was produced and how power relations were shaped on the Ottoman borders. In this framework, it has been observed that the Ottoman traditional understanding of borders refers to a specific geographical region with concepts such as frontier, serhad and border. The emergence of the Ottoman Empire in the Seljuk-Byzantine frontier region, the formation of its own social structure and organisation in the frontiers and the production of value systems specific to the frontiers were the dynamics that constituted the Ottoman frontier society. The state of being different from those at the centre but similar to those at the fringes formed the basis of the Ottoman border culture. In the face of the central power, the frontier principality became a power on the Ottoman borders by organising itself through religious-social groups in the tips in order to both protect the frontiers against the enemy and to organise raids against the enemy. | |
