Objective: The present study was conducted to determine the disaster prepaedness beliefs of nursing students, the factors affecting disas ter preparedness beliefs, and the barriers to disaster preparedness. Material and Methods: The population of the mixed-method research consisted of nursing students studying at a state university. Data were collected face-to face between April 1-30, 2024. The data were collected through a Sociode mographic Information Form, General Disaster Preparedness Scale, and Semi-structured Interview Form. Number, percentage, multiple regression analysis, and descriptive analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: It was determined that 57.5% of the students had previously experienced a disaster, 81% had not received disaster training, 90.2% did not have a dis aster kit prepared at home, and 57.5% were unaware of the assembly area in case of a possible disaster. The present study revealed that the variables of having social security, being aware of the disaster assembly area, female gender, possession of a disaster kit at home, attending grade 3 and 4 of un dergraduate studies, receiving disaster preparedness training, and assuming preparedness for disasters were protective factors for disaster preparedness beliefs, and these variables affected 35.4% of disaster preparedness beliefs of students. It was determined that the students considered the following reasons as barriers to disaster preparedness: 1) Lack of in-depth knowledge, 2) Association of disasters with earthquakes, 3) Economic inadequacies, 4) Ignore, 5) The idea of “it won't happen to me”, 6) Lack of gradual planning, 7) Lack of compulsory implementation and supervision and 8) Fatalistic ap proach. Conclusion: It was concluded that the disaster preparedness beliefs of nursing students were at a moderate level, they agreed that disaster pre paredness was essential, but their disaster preparedness levels were inade quate. Considering the impact of disasters on public health and that nurses constitute an important part of healthcare delivery, interventions to improve the preparedness of society and nurses for disasters should be planned.
