Özet
Bu çalışmada Gümülcine ve Dedeağaç sancaklarında Osmanlı modern eğitim kurumlarının kuruluşu, gelişimi ele alınarak, merkezi yönetimin ve sancak idaresinin Gümülcine ve Dedeağaç sancaklarındaki eğitim yatırımlarına karşı tutumu ile ilgisi incelenmektedir. Tanzimat ve Sultan II. Abdülhamid Dönemi'nde her iki sancakta da sıbyan/ibtidâî, rüşdiye, inâs rüşdiye ve idâdî mektepleri açılmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti merkezi yönetimi eğitim altyapısı için bina inşası, muallim tayini gibi icraatları gerçekleştirirken, ortaya çıkan mali aksaklıklar ve gecikmeler ise yöre ahalisinin gayretleriyle telafi edilmiştir
This study reviews the foundation and development of modern Ottoman educational institutions in Gümülçine (Komotini) and Dedeağaç (Alexandroupolis) sanjaks and examines the approach of the central and sanjak administrations toward the educational investments. During the tanzimat or reorganization period and the Abdulhamid II period primary and secondary schools, high schools and schools for girls that were opened in both sanjaks. While the Ottoman central administration helped to construct the schools and appointed teachers, economic challenges were handled with the help of local people
