Özet
Toplumlarda bireyler arasında görülen en belirgin fark, biyolojik açıdan kadın veya erkek oluşlarıdır. Çocukluğun ilk yıllarından itibaren fark edilmeye başlayan bu durumun, ileriki yıllarda biyolojik farklılıktan daha öte bir kavram olduğu anlaşılır. Bireyler zaman geçtikçe cinsiyet özelliklerine göre toplumsal alanda beklentilerle şekillenip karakterlerini bu duruma uygun bir biçimde geliştirmeye çalışacaklardır. Bu kavram toplumsal cinsiyet (gender) ile açıklanabilmektedir. Son dönem Türk yazarlarında (özellikle kadın yazarlarda) toplumsal cinsiyet kavramının öne çıktığı görülmektedir. Nilüfer Kuyaş da romanlarında bu konuyu irdelemiş, kadınlık ve erkeklik görünümlerini genel toplumsal beklentilerin aksi yönünde ele almaya gayret göstermiştir. Çalışmanın “Giriş” kısmında toplumsal cinsiyet algıları ve Türk edebiyatındaki gelişimi kısaca anlatılmıştır. Sonrasında yazar ve eserleri hakkında bilgi verilerek Nilüfer Kuyaş’ın Ada’daki Ev romanındaki kadınlık ve erkeklik görünümleri ile toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri, bu rollerin toplumun beklentilerine uygun olup olmadıkları, ev, aile, özgürlük gibi başlıklarla ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Güncel bir konu olan toplumsal cinsiyet ve rollerdeki değişimin, yine güncel bir metin üzerinden ortaya konulmasıyla toplumsal değişimlerin edebi metinler üzerindeki yansımalarının tespit edilmesi, çalışmanın ana amacını oluşturmaktadır.
The most obvious difference between individuals in societies is whether they are biologically male or female. This situation, which starts to be noticed from the early years of childhood, is understood to be a concept beyond biological differences in later years. Individuals will be shaped by appropriate expectations in the social sphere according to their gender characteristics as time goes by and will try to develop their characters in a way that is suitable for this situation. This concept can be explained by gender. It is seen that the concept of gender has become prominent in recent Turkish writers (especially female writers). Nilüfer Kuyaş has also examined this issue in her novels and has tried to address the appearances of femininity and masculinity in a way that is contrary to general social expectations. In the “Introduction” section of the study, gender perceptions and their development in Turkish literature are briefly explained. Afterwards, information is given about the author and her works, and the appearances of femininity and masculinity in Nilüfer Kuyaş’s novel Ada’daki Ev and gender roles, whether these roles are suitable for the expectations of society, and the topics such as home, family, and freedom are tried to be addressed. The main purpose of the study is to determine the reflections of social changes on literary texts by presenting the current issue of gender and role changes through a timely text.
