Özet
Son yıllarda hızla gelişen teknolojiler değişen ihtiyaçlar ve artan nüfusa rağmen kaynakların kıt kullanılması bilgiye olan gereksinimi ön plana çıkarmıştır. Artık bir kaynak olarak kabul edilen bilgiden en iyi şekilde yararlanma yoluna gidilmektedir. Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) günümüzde konuma dayalı her türlü grafik ve tanımlayıcı bilgiyi entegre ederek kullanıcıya sunan bilgi-teknoloji tabanlı bir bilgi sistemidir. Standartlarına göre oluşturulmuş veritabanında bölge müdürlüğüne ait bütün veriler vardır. Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri ile elde edilen veri analizleri her şeflik için ayrı ayrı yapılarak ormanların geçmişteki durumları ile bugünkü durumları kıyaslanarak ormanların geleceği ile ilgili planlar daha sağlıklı olarak yapılabilir
