Özet
It is important to produce effective and innovative data in scientific research. For this aim, tech-niques based on observation, interview, experiment, biophysical measurements, and self-report can be used. The scales are self-report data collection tools and enable the faster, easier, cheaper, and standardized collection of research data. Therefore, using, modifying, adapting, and developing scales play a critical role in all human-based sciences. Likert-type scales are preferred more than other scale types due to some advantages. The creation of user-friendly resources that deal with the subject with a holistic approach and the dissemination of their use by researchers contribute to raising awareness on this issue and to the production and use of better quality scales. For this reason, the use, modification, adaptation, and development processes of Likert-type scales are discussed with a holistic approach in the present review. The aim of the article is to contribute to raising awareness on this issue, regarding the production and use of higher-quality scales.
