| dc.description.abstract | Mehdî inancı toplumların özellikle de geri kalmış toplumların zor zamanlarında bir kurtarıcı beklentisi içine girmeleri ile ilgili bir durumdur. Bu olgu farklı dinlerde olduğu gibi İslam dininde de mevcuttur. Allah’tan aldığı “ilahi yetki” ile dinî ve toplumsal alanı yeniden tesis edeceğini iddia eden bu kişilerin tezahürlerine İslam dünyasının farklı coğrafyalarında görmek mümkündür. Bu fikrin yansıması Hint alt kıtasında Seyyid Muhammed Cavnpûrî ile kendini göstermiştir. Onun mehdî olduğu yönündeki fikirleri kaçınılmaz olarak Mehdeviyye adıyla bir hareketin de ortaya çıkmasına yol açmıştır. Seyyid Muhammed ve Mehdeviyye, başlangıçta İslam’ın bozulmamış ilk saf haline dönülmesini ve bu düşüncenin insanlara ulaştırılmasını amaçlayan bir hareket olarak kabul edilmektedir. Ancak Seyyid Muhammed’in mehdîlik ve Allah’ı gördüğüne dair iddiaları geniş halk kitleleri tarafından kabul görmemiş ve mahalli düzeyde kalmıştır. Bu çalışmada, XV. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Hindistan’da Seyyid Muhammed Cavnpûrî’nin biyografisi, mehdîlik iddiası, öğretileri ve hareketinin kurumsallaşma süreci mehdevi kaynaklar üzerinden ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada, Seyyid Muhammed’in sadece dinî bir inanç sistemi değil, aynı zamanda toplumsal bir ıslah ve tarikatvâri bir hareket olarak Mehdeviyye’nin ortaya çıkmasında etkili bir şahıs olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Literatüre dayalı nitel bir çalışma olarak planlanan bu araştırma, mehdîlik olgusu etrafında yapılan araştırmalara Hint alt kıtası örneği üzerinden katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The belief in the mahdī is a situation where societies, particularly underdeveloped ones, enter into an expectation of a saviour during difficult times. This phenomenon exists in Islam as it does in other religions. Manifestations of these individuals, who claim to will re-establish the religious and social spheres with the ‘divine authority’ they have received from Allah, can be seen in different parts of the Islamic world. This idea manifested itself in the Indian subcontinent with Sayyid Muḥammad Jawnpūrī. His ideas about being the Mahdī inevitably led to the emergence of a movement called the Mahdawīyya. Sayyid Muḥammad and Mahdawīyya is initially regarded as a movement that initially aimed to return to the uncorrupted, original form of Islam and to convey this ideologye to people. However, Sayyid Muḥammad's claims of being the Mahdī and of seeing Allah were not widely accepted by the masses and remained at the local level. This study attempts to examine the biography of Sayyid Muḥammad Jawnpūrī, his claim to be the Mahdī, his teachings, and the institutionalization process of his movement in India during the second half of the 15th century, using Mahdawī sources. The study concludes that Sayyid Muḥammad was an influential figure in the emergence of Mahdawīyya, not only as a religious belief system but also as a social reform and sufî-like movement. Planned as a qualitative study based on the literatüre, this research aims to the studies on the phenomenon of mahdism through the example of the Indian subcontinent. | |
