dc.description.abstractOne of the main targets of studies on bacterial flora of harmful pests is to discover new, effective and reliable biological control agents against pest species in question or to show an association between insects and microbiota. This study was performed in order to provide bacterial flora data to be used in development of effective potential biological control agents against the green oak leaf roller Tortrix viridana which is known to be one of the most significant pests in oak fields over the world and in Turkey. For this purpose, pupal and larval stages of T. viridana were collected from oak forests in Artvin-Turkey and bacterial isolations were perfomed using these stages. VITEK 2 and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the bacterial isolates were Serratia liquefaciens (Tvl), Enterococcus gallinarum (Tv2), Rhodococcus sp. (Tv3), Rahnella aquatilis (Tv4), Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens (Tv5) and Pseudomonas flourescens (Tv6) all of which were isolated for the first time for the bacterial flora of T. viridana. Morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics of all isolates were determined. Further studies are needed to test whether these or other new bacterial isolates have insecticidal effects on T. viridana.
