| dc.description.abstract | A significant portion of fires occurring worldwide consists of building fires. Statistical analyses show that each year, many people are injured or lose their lives due to building fires, and these incidents lead to substantial economic losses. Another important aspect of fire events is the environmental effects that begin with the combustion process but continue even after the fire is extinguished. The primary aim of this study is to examine the environmental effects of fires in buildings in the context of waste generation related to building materials. Structural and non-structural materials can suffer varying degrees of damage when exposed to high temperatures, negatively affecting the lifespan of structures. The condition of building damage can lead to a need for repairs or even result in the end of its useful life. This situation necessitates construction processes involving the reuse of limited finite resources and threatens sustainability. Due to their chemical, physical, and mechanical properties, building materials exhibit different behaviors after a fire, resulting in the generation of solid, liquid, and gas waste. This study aims to summarize the flammability classes of building materials, the waste generated as a result of fires, and the recycling processes. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Dünya genelinde meydana gelen yangınların önemli bir kısmını bina yangınları teşkil etmektedir. Yapılan istatistiksel analizler, her yıl bina yangınları sonucunda çok sayıda insanın yaralandığını veya hayatını kaybettiğini ve bu olayların ekonomik açıdan büyük kayıplara yol açtığını göstermektedir. Yangın olayının bir diğer önemli boyutu, yanma süreci ile başlayan ancak yangının söndürülmesinin ardından da devam eden çevresel etkilerdir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, binalarda meydana gelen yangınların çevresel etkilerini yapı malzemeleri bağlamında atık oluşumu açısından incelemektir. Yapısal ve yapısal olmayan malzemeler, yüksek sıcaklıklara maruz kaldıklarında çeşitli derecelerde hasar görmekte ve bu durum yapıların yaşam döngüsü sürelerini olumsuz etkilemektedir. Bina hasar durumu, onarım ihtiyacını doğurabileceği gibi, kullanım ömrünün sona ermesine de neden olabilmektedir. Bu durum, sınırlı kıt kaynakların yeniden kullanımıyla inşa süreçlerini gerektirmekte ve sürdürülebilirliği tehdit etmektedir. Yapı malzemeleri kimyasal, fiziksel ve mekanik özellikleri gereği yangın sonrası farklı davranışlar sergilemekte ve bu süreçte katı, sıvı ve gaz atıklar ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışma, yapı malzemelerinin yanıcılık sınıflarını, yangın sonucunda oluşan atıkları ve geri dönüşüm süreçlerini özetlemeyi hedeflemektedir. | |
