This study aims to determine the effects of watershed reclamation activities on vegetation structure within the Çoruh River Basin Rehabilitation Project (CNHRP), conducted under the coordination of the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) and covering the provinces of Artvin, Erzurum, and Bayburt. In the research model, a stratified simple random sampling method was employed across 708 sampling points identified within 12 micro-catchments. Data were collected using 1-meter transect rods in rangelands and 20-meter steel measuring tapes in degraded forests; the analysis was performed by calculating the average crown cover, number of individuals and species, as well as the Shannon- Wiener and Simpson biodiversity indices. The findings revealed that the average vegetation cover, which was 40% in the baseline assessment in 2014, increased to 66% as a result of the project activities. The increase in cover within the treatment areas (78%) was found to be significantly higher than that in the control areas (52%). Additionally, a species richness increase of 66% was detected in the treatment areas, compared to a 57% increase in the control areas. In conclusion, it is discussed that technical interventions and the exclusion of sites from grazing substantially accelerate natural restoration processes; however, protection-oriented activities should be prioritized over afforestation in arid areas with shallow soils. This study demonstrates the critical role of watershed rehabilitation in enhancing biological diversity and ecosystem resilience
